A Dress I Like

This blog isn't really the type to cover new dress releases. I feel that there are plenty of other blogs that cover this. However, I don't have a drawing for the week and I haven't done any sewing lately. So! I saw this at Mary Magdalene this morning and was quite fond of it. I love the blue and green stripes, colors I wish were more plentiful in lolita. I love the sailor collar and that it doesn't look like an exclusively sailor lolita piece. And I love the three-quarter length sleeves, another rare sight in lolita.

Outfit Drawing of the Week

This week I wanted to draw something in a color that I can't wear. So I chose a bright pinky-orange-coral. (It actually looks a little more orange in person than in the scan) If I were to wear something so peachy I think I would blend in with the dress. ^_^" I meant to give her tights, but I got a little carried away when I finally discovered the combination of browns that look like an actual skin tone. XD

Happy Pi Day!

Happy Pi Day everyone! Today is March 14th or 3-14 or 3.14... pi! ^_^

What does one do on Pi Day? Eat pie! I made a banana cream pie this year. Yum. :3

Did anyone else celebrate Pi Day?

15 Followers and Headwear Poll Results

This weekend Commercially Alternative reached 15 followers through Google Friend Connect. Yay~ You guys make me so happy! Thank you so much to everyone who reads my blog. As always, I shall continue to strive to make reading this blog worth while. I still have a lot to learn with both blogging and sewing.

School is quickly drawing to a close with about 7 weeks of work left! O_O" It is both exciting and frightening at the same time. Exciting because I am ready to be done with school and move on to the next chapter of my life. Frightening because I know how much homework is due and how many exams I have to pass between now and then. XD

So, this post draws to a close the Headwear Appreciation saga with a poll. For the past month and a half I had a poll up asking readers what their favorite hair accessory was. I allowed multiple answers, because I couldn't decide one single favorite. ^_^ A total of six people, including myself, voted. Thank you to everyone who participated! So here are the results...

  • 1st place: Corsages (4 votes)
  • 2nd place: Round headdresses (3 votes)
  • 3rd place: Bonnets, Bows, Mini hats, and Big hats (2 votes each)
  • 4th place: Rectangle headresses (1 vote)
Again, thank you so much to everyone who reads and comments on my blog. You have no idea how much it means to me. ^_^

Outfit Drawing of the Week

I had a nice Easter dress in mind when I drew this and I definitely wanted a hat. I wish hats were still stylish in everyday fashion.

Headwear Appreciation Post Part 7: Hats

I adore the use of real sized hats in a lolita coordinate. It gives off a more mature feel. This is probably why this style is prevalent in the classic subset. I love how many different shapes and types can be used. Let's take a moment to appreciate just a few of them.

Outfit Drawing of the Week

This outfit is one of the looks I'm hoping to achieve with my scoop neck blouse. I wanted to keep the coordinate very simple as I wanted a look I can actually make with my current sewing skills. XD I don't think you see enough greens in lolita, so I decided to use a bright emerald green. What do you all think?

The picture is rather large, so I'll try to scan them in smaller in the future.
